Eagle Trail

Last week my school had a visit from a somewhat famous author, Robert Rigby. He came to promote his new book 'The Eagle Trail' which is set in WWII, German-occupied Antwerp, and life continues as usual for 16-year-old Paul Hansen - until his father is shot. Paul learns that his parents are part of a group of resistance fighters and he's whisked away by Jos Theys, his father's closest friend, to the home of an elderly couple. There Paul learns he must leave Antwerp as quickly as possible and travel south through France and across the Pyrenees into Spain, and from there to England, and freedom. It is a journey to save his life. Along the way he is aided by a collection of courageous men and women prepared to risk everything to help him in his desperate fight for survival. Danger is ever present; who can Paul really trust? A tense, hugely compelling tale of bravery, betrayal and first love.
He also talked about some of his other books that he had worked on with Andy McNab which I was quite excited about. He then went on to teach us about creative writing and what it's like to be an author. 'The Eagle Trail' will be officially released on the 3rd of April but I managed to get an early copy..........and it was signed!

PS3?

So lately I've been thinking about getting a PS3 because there are a few games that are only available on PS3/4 that I really want to play. One of which you may already know, The Last of Us, and the other is Beyond Two Souls. I've been debating about one because if I'm only getting two games for it then is it really worth getting? I can see myself enjoying them immensely but once they are completed then it will just sit in the corner gathering dust, unless a new game comes out which is exclusive to PS3/4. I would like to know what you think I should do......

Video games to Movies

Movie adaptations of video games have always been a bit of a let down but two new announcements have definitely caught my eye. Mojang's "Minecraft" and NaughtyDogs "The Last of Us" are to appear on the big screens in a few years. Being a fan of Minecraft, a movie sounds like a really good idea but how are they going to do it? Animation? Live action? We just don't know yet. The Last of Us, however, has a great story line which is definitely movie worthy. For the people not aware of what "The Last of Us" it's set 20 years after a pandemic has radically changed known civilization, infected humans run wild and survivors are killing each other for food, weapons - whatever they can get their hands on. Joel, a violent survivor, is hired to smuggle a 14 year-old girl, Ellie, out of an oppressive military quarantine zone, but what starts as a small job soon transforms into a brutal journey across the U.S. I haven't been able to play "The Last of Us" because I do not own a PS3/4 but I have watched a play through an enjoyed it immensely.

Let me know what you think about these new announcements, which one are you most excited for?
